Best wishes to our Friends who are unwell
We hear that Ann is out of hospital and at home, we send our best wishes to her and to Ivy who is experiencing problems.  Dan was out walking the other day and is doing well, his diet is working wonders!  Alan is better after his spell in hospital, let’s hope that things continue to improve.  Paul Long is making slow progress; he is able to move his arm more but finds difficulty with speaking, although he is aware of what is happening around him.  He has been out from the rehabilitation unit for a meal and hopes to go home for a day soon.  We wish him well.

Veolia’s Planning Application to Re-contour the Alps
A petition and many letters were sent to the Secretary of State to request a Public Enquiry to examine the Planning Application for the Landfill site to rise to 170+ft.  John Denham has refused this so the Wennington Alps will grow!  Many thanks to those who signed the petition and who wrote  letters especially Cllr David Leaf from Erith (four pages of realism).  What next a judicial review?

Extraordinary General Meeting
An extraordinary meeting is being arranged because there are four vacancies on the committee.  The Chair Person stated in October 2008  that she would not continue for very long, then another member found that juggling with child care was too demanding.  Two other members handed in their written resignations.  Details concerning the date and venue will be available in due course.  In the meantime four members have been appointed to a Caretaker Committee to oversee the day to day running of the association.

Police Alert
Were you near the Custom House Public House in South Street Romford on Sunday 30th August 2009?  A man was subjected to an unprovoked attack between midnight and 00.30am by a white male in a yellow t-shirt.  If you saw this attack or can give any information please contact Romford Police Station on 1708 751212.

Two Planters for Our Village
Havering Council have provided two planters for our village; the first is already installed at the Lennards with some late summer plants entrenched.  Another is to be placed near the bridge, but further developments are included in this programme.   A metal bench is to be placed on The Green, but this may not happen until next spring.  These will enhance the village somewhat.
