Our Constitution
We are reviewing our constitution with a view to making minor alterations prior to our Annual General Meeting in 2010. It is only when problems occur that you realise how the constitution needs to be amended. Constitutions are created to give a framework in which the association can facilitate its development, they safeguard the exploitation of the charity and its members. We aim to treat all of our members equally and with respect. The Committee aims to listen to members’ concerns and deal with them fairly for the benefit of the community. The responsibility held by the Committee is extensive, particularly where finance is concerned: if a member has a vested interest, they are required to resign immediately. A vested interest is where a person will gain financially from work undertaken for the charity that they are involved in. For an association to function efficiently there must be a consistent approach from the adherence to the constitution to the deposit of monies in the accounts. If there is no constitution you can do what you like! We need your support to ensure that this doesn’t happen.
Compensation from the Channel Tunnel Rail Link
We have been in contact with John Gay who is negotiating some of the claims for compensation from the Channel Tunnel Rail Link. He states:
As matters currently stand Union Rail’s agents were recently very busy with several hundred Lands Tribunal references on the tunnel section of the scheme. This has now been resolved and I have a meeting with their valuer in early December to initiate negotiations. From my experience of the Kent section I anticipate these negotiations will take some time and I will be updating my clients on the position before Christmas. I trust the above information is of assistance.
Regards,
John
Therefore we will have to be patient, not like a group of home owners who were hoping to sell part of their gardens to a builder. One family tried to push up the price time and time again! What was the result? The builder pulled out! Moral: Don’t be too greedy!
Police Presence on November 6th
We would like to thank Sgt Matt Chatters and his team for ensuring that the village was quiet and orderly on the evening of the Fair and Firework Display on November 6th. It was a treat to see the crowds walk through the village showing respect for the inhabitants. We really appreciated this support from the Police.
Bikes without Lights
One of the Committee Members has reported seeing some lads riding their bikes in the dark without lights. This is a dangerous practice and could lead to a serious injury. As you know full well, that some vehicles drive very fast through the village.
