Raffle Rules
Recently I read about the rules for running raffles. Apparently you should only sell raffle tickets on the day of the event and at the premises where the event is to take place. The winning tickets must be announced at the event. Prizes must be donated or if purchased the total cost must not exceed £500. Alcohol may not be given as a prize to anyone under 18. If you wish to sell tickets beforehand, you will need to obtain permission from the Licensing team at Havering Council. The licences begin at £40 per annum.
Rainham Horticultural Daffodil Show
On Saturday 3rd April the Daffodil Show for the Rainham Horticultural Society was to have taken place at the Methodist Hall, but as the weather has been very cold, many of the spring flowers are way behind and not ready for showing. Therefore, the committee for the RHS have decided to cancel the show. It is unfortunate but financially necessary.
Our Best Wishes
We send our best wishes to Jack & Eileen, Jan, Olive, Bob, Ann, Marie and Norrie. We hope that the warmer weather will brighten up your lives.
We wish the Church Warden, Pat improved health, as she has had problems with her eyes and cannot drive.
Retirement Rule Changes
If you are currently between 50 and 55 and you were hoping to draw retirement benefits from your pension plan, you must look at the changes in legislation. As from 6th April 2010 the minimum age will be increased to 55, unless you are in poor health or cannot work. Check with your pension provider and discuss your options. A helpful booklet has been produced by the FSA and can be found on the internet at
