Recycling
We have heard that recycling might very well become compulsory; this means that we will all have to use our orange bags for paper, plastic bottles, thin cardboard and tins etc.  We could be in danger of being fined if we do not recycle - I wonder how they will sort it out in the tower blocks?  There are bins that have three sections, one for rubbish, one for recyclables and the third for leftover food.  Did you read about the suggestion of saving up your leftovers in a special box and it would be collected every other week!  It would be worse than turning the compost in damp weather!  We actually monitored what food was left over from our home last week, well there was very little, but our birds are fat and the foxes don’t go hungry!

Hanging Baskets
Streetcare offered to provide hanging baskets and plants at a low cost, as they were hoping that we would enter the Village in Bloom competition.  The take up was rather disappointing as only six residents asked for baskets!  If you look through the village some people have already put their up their baskets, window boxes and troughs.  I was quite envious when I saw the horn shaped baskets arrived from Streetcare!  Please have a look at the front of your house and see if you can brighten it up with flowers.

Take Care of Your Bike - SNT
In recent weeks there has been a spate of theft of pedal cycles in the Rainham and Wennington area.  We would like to bring this to your attention in order to prevent any more crimes of this nature taking place in the area. In order for this to happen we need you to ensure that you take the necessary measures to make sure your bike is not stolen.  Below is a list of necessary precautions worth taking to ensure that your bike is not stolen:
Do NOT leave your bike unattended at any time, unless securely locked.
Customise your bike. Make your bike unique, therefore if stolen it is easily identifiable for it to be found.
Lock away in your shed or garage when it is not being used.
Record the serial number that is located on the underneath of the bike frame.
Take a picture of your bike, to make it easier for police to identify if seen.
If possible, etch your postcode and house number into the paintwork under the frame. Therefore, if found, we can return the bike back to you.
If your bike has been stolen – REPORT IT TO POLICE on 0300 123 1212
