Our One Hundredth Edition!!
This edition of your newsletter is the one hundredth! Over the last ten years we
have tried to reproduce at least ten newsletters a year, averaging about one thousand
words each time -
Terry Bryant send his wishes
Terry was pleased to receive our newsletter and he sent his best wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all his friends in Wennington.
Marion from Rainham Church Office
moves to Greener Pastures
Marion at St Helen’s Hall who ran the Rainham Church Office has decided to move to greener pastures. She has always been there to help with any of our enquiries regarding weddings, baptisms or funerals. Her approach has always been so kind and supportive, thus she will be sadly missed. We wish her well in the future and trust that she will find great happiness.
Dog Pooh!
Have you noticed large deposits of dog pooh along the pavement outside Kent View
and outside the church? When someone treads in it, there is an awful mess which
may be trodden indoors. We are appealing to dog owners, please take your perfumed
pink plastic bag with you when you go walkies with your pooch and pick it up and
take it home -
The Lady who played the organ
One of our residents said to me, “ I haven’t seen the lady who used to play the organ in church.” Well actually I saw Dal in Tesco’s the other day and I was amazed how well she looked. She told me that she hasn’t felt so well for years. Earlier this year she had a routine blood test and when she got home, the surgery phoned her to say that they were sending an ambulance as she had to go into hospital immediately. To cut a long story short, her treatment was brilliant and she is now feeling great! What a lovely ending!!
A Peregrine Hawk at Large
One evening I met a chap holding what looked like a tv aerial and he was running along the road. He actually owned a peregrine hawk, which was fitted with a tracker and in the dark he was trying to locate it. He was hoping to entice it down on the ground with some meat, but it had found its own prey and was perched on the telegraph pole devouring its quarry. The owner said that he would have to return in the morning to locate it. I have never seen the man again but I have seen and heard the hawk, if you have any sightings please let me know. Do you know the owner?
Renewing your Subscription
In February your wardens will be coming around to collect your 2010 subscriptions. There will be no increase this year as money is tight for most people and we recognise this. We spend very little money, the bulk of our costs are for running the website, but if we are sponsored for this, there will be few costs. If you could have £2.50 ready in an envelope, it helps our wardens. We do need your support to maintain our efforts to promote the wellbeing of our residents and improve the facilities in our village.
Our Condolences to the Family of Jim Dennis
It was with great sadness that we heard last week of the death of Jim Dennis. He had been unwell for some time and was due to come out of the hospital the next day. His funeral will take place on Friday 22nd January in Wennington Church at 1.00pm and the interment follows in the Churchyard. It is just a year ago when Jim’s wife, Joyce died and was buried in the churchyard, so Jim and Joyce will lie together. Our condolences go to the family.

Don’t forget to renew your freedom pass at the local Post Office. If you need a new passport size photograph there is a booth in Tesco’s (just past the opticians), eitherwise try Romford or Lakeside (Post Office). You get four passport size pictures for £4.00.
