Annual General Meeting of the Wennington Village Association:
Wednesday 28th May at 7.30pm
We have arranged to hold our Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 28th May 2008 at 7.30pm in the Village Hall. We needed more time to get the Draft Constitution together; it is now available to all members. The wardens and the Committee Members have copies, so please ask them for a copy. Your comments will be welcome.
Nominations are required for members of the committee and we would like these by May 7th. Georgina is standing down as Chair Person, but she is still prepared to be a committee member. There are at least three spaces on the committee, so please get your nomination in, which should be seconded.
If there are any issues that you would like to raise at the A.G.M., these must be in writing and in the hands of the Chair Person by Wednesday 14th May 2008.
372 Bus Service
You will no doubt be aware of the complaints that we have made to Transport for London about the 372 Bus Service. We have had replies to our communications and most recently a letter thanking us for taking time to write and stating that our comments will help to improve the service. We have all been pleased with the extra buses that are now running and hope that the consistency will be maintained. I actually saw two buses following each other through the village yesterday!! Please keep the Committee advised of positive and negative issues concerning the service.
Congratulations to one of our little angels
Years ago when we had a village nativity in Wennington Church on Christmas Eve, there were always little angels willing to take part. I met one of them the other day only to find that she had her own little pink angel in the back of the car. A couple of years ago a little boy was born, Pierce, and now she has a little girl. Congratulations to Natasha! She said that that is her lot! Have you heard that before? I think that the birth was demanding on her mum, Anne, as well.
The Application for an Earthbund on the Marshes
We have passed the issue of the Earthbund onto our MP, James Brokenshire, who will investigate the matter. The Planning Application has been submitted but we know no more.

Do you get annoyed when the train you anticipated catching has been cancelled or delayed. To combat this frustration the C2C Rail service have designed a free Disruption Alerts Service. You can register and the company will send you a free text message alerting you to any disruption. Visit their website www.c2c-online.co.uk and click on the home page “Register for our free service disruption alerts”
Now there is a quiet zone on each train for people who like to travel without the noise of loud music, conversations and mobile phone use. If you travel by train look for the QUIET ZONE!
Dog Show
Sue, Dave and Joan from the Dog Training classes and the German Shepherd Club have arranged a Dog Show at the Thames Chase Forest Centre, Broadfield Farm in Pike Lane, Cranham. It will take place on Sunday 4th May from 10.00am until 4.00pm. Entry is £1.00 for each class. (11 classes) Judging starts at midday. Refreshments are available.
How about it Charlotte? Are you taking your little pooch? Perhaps Mere would like to enter, she certainly is well groomed and a lovely temperament. Or Holly can always take her mum there!
